Greetings
Athletes, Sponsors, Families, and Spectators!
| We are proud to announce
the First Annual Tri for a Cure, an All-Women’s
Triathlon in the State of Maine, on August 9, 2008!
We have been working along with our wonderful
committee of volunteers to put together what we
think will be one of the most spectacular women’s
events in New England. |
 |
The "Tri for a Cure" will be a
sprint triathlon taking place on the beautiful oceanfront
campus of Southern Maine Community College in South
Portland, Maine.
The
transition will be just steps from the beach with the City
of Portland as the backdrop. The 1/3 mile ocean swim will be
in the shadows of Spring Point Head Light. The 12 mile
bike loop will take you through rural portions of South
Portland and Cape Elizabeth. The 3 mile run will go along the marina from
Spring Point Head Light to Bug Head Light, head back towards
campus to meet up with a stunning oceanfront path that will
lead you to a spectacular finish back at the transition.
Tri for a Cure will be a fundraiser to benefit the Maine
Cancer Foundation. One hundred percent of the money raised
by Tri for a Cure will stay in Maine to fund cancer research
and patient support programs. Though this is an all woman
event, we are funding research for all cancers.
Athletes are encouraged to raise additional funds for this
event through our registration system. Each athlete will
have their own web page and have the ability to raise money
in honor or memory of a family member, friend, or loved one.

 |
We encourage ALL
women to consider Tri for a Cure. Fitting the “athlete” mold
is NOT one of our requirements. Make it fun! Persuade your
mother, sister, cousin, aunt, friends and co-workers to
“Tri” for an excellent cause! Believe us, completing a
triathlon, especially your first, will be one of the
greatest accomplishments in your life. Come on; give it a
“Tri!”
Happy & Healthy Wishes,
