After her cancer diagnosis, Julie Marchese completed her first triathlon during the summer of 2006. Alongside her, was friend Abby Bliss. After crossing the finish line, they were hooked. Since then, they have competed together in several triathlons.  The Tri for a Cure was formed when these two friends, both active volunteers for the Maine Cancer Foundation, Bliss a committee chair and Marchese on the Board of Directors, decided to combine their passion for triathlons with their passion for supporting the mission of the Maine Cancer Foundation.

Tri for a Cure hopes to encourage improving personal health and combine that with funding cancer research.  Women of all abilities are encouraged to participate in this triathlon. Though women are participating in the event, everyone can be a part of finding a cure.  People can sponsor their favorite athlete and make an on-line donation in honor of or in memory of a loved one.  Each athlete will get their own web page upon registration and have the ability to customize their web page and send it out to their community members for their support.  Friends will be amazed by the strength and determination of these athletes and will want to help them reach their goal.  There will be prizes awarded for reaching fundraising levels.

This is your chance to make a difference in your life and in the fight against cancer!
Just Tri!
