Fueling Your Body for Training

Proper nutrition is important to help maximize energy output during exercise and regenerate muscle mass following exercise. This balance is particularly important during training and on race day. In this session, our nutrition expert will discuss healthy nutrition practice for female athletes based on age, weight and level of activity during training months…a “must know” to stay healthy and happy during training and beyond!

Anne Marie Davee

Anne Marie Davee, MS, RD, LD

Ms. Davee is a Registered and Licensed Dietitian with over twenty-five years of experience in health promotion.  She has two degrees from the University of Maine at Orono; a bachelor’s degree in Foods & Nutrition and a Master’s Degree in Nutrition with an Exercise Concentration. Her research on the effects of diet and exercise on bone density was published in the Journal of Bone and Mineral Research. 

Ms. Davee has also authored numerous published journal articles on Maine’s Vending and A La Carte Intervention in seven high schools. These publications include CDC’s Preventing Chronic Disease Journal, the Journal of School Health and the Journal of Nutrition Education and Behavior.

Ms. Davee is an appointed Board of Director on the Maine Governor’s Council for Physical Activity and serves on the Maine Running Hall of Fame Board. She was inducted into the Maine Running Hall of Fame in 2000 for her running achievements. Ms. Davee is a competitive runner and tri-athlete.  She has been running since she was 12 years old. Ms. Davee has completed twenty (26-mile) marathons and six triathlons.  Her most notable marathon includes the first Women’s Olympic Marathon Trials in 1984.
