Here are some fun Facts from the 2009 Tri for a Cure
- The 2009 Tri “Sold Out” in 25 minutes!
- Average participant age – 40.44
- Participants were from 13 different states with 89% from Maine
- 83% hold undergrad, advanced or doctoral degrees
- 58% of participants consider themselves beginner level, 41.2% intermediate, 0.8% elite
- Average distance traveled to the event was 60 miles
- 48.6% brought family or friends with them to the event
- 86.4% or all competitors purchased some tri-specific items prior to the race
- 81% of participants were able to recall event sponsors
- The number one primary motivation for participation was supporting Maine Cancer Foundation
- What participants liked:
The Cause, Organization, Location, atmosphere/camaraderie and All women event
- Participants were asked if they recalled who our sponsors were. 100% could recall up to 5 names!
- 98.8% answered YES to the question “Would you recommend competing in the Tri for a Cure Triathlon to others?”
