ME Tri for a Cure

Fundraising Tips

1) Take a few minutes and have fun personalizing your fundraising page that was created when you registered for the triathlon. Tell everyone why you are doing this triathlon.

2) Make it ALL ABOUT YOU. Tell your donors you're turning 40. Or 50. Or, you're losing 25 pounds. Or, you're a cancer survivor! Or, you're a lunatic bent on trying her first triathlon! Anything goes.

3) Make it ALL ABOUT THEM! Tell your donors you're raising money for your friend who is dealing with cancer, your friend who has survived the disease, or in honor/memory of a friend who lost his/her battle to cancer. Do it for cancer research!

4) Remember, the athletic competition is all about you. The fund raising really isn't. It's about the Maine Cancer Foundation and the bang up research. A cure can be found anywhere and your dollars raised may make the difference!

5) Set a personal fund raising goal. Then double it. That will be the number on your fund raising page. If your goal is too low, people stop giving. If your goal is high, they will help you meet it. Everyone loves the woman who TRIes hard for a CURE.

6) Send emails out to everyone in your contact list and let them know what you are up to. Check back frequently and send follow up emails. You can let people know your progress training etc so your follow up emails will be a welcome note while reminding people who forgot to give.

7) Remember: fund raising is FUN raising.

You can be reminded of how to edit your personal page by searching for your confirmation email with the subject "Important "Tri for a Cure" registration information". If you need further assistance with this please email triforacure@mainecancer.org.
